Basically the West gives Ukranda a bunch of armored vehicles (bc those are easiest to source - as opposed to artillery and missiles which they need for a defensive war), so they get in their little buggies and drive as far as they can, so far so good. What bugs me is that Russia still has hundreds of attack helicopters that absolutely SMOKE buggies, yes, they expose themselves to manpads, but the Ukies often outrun their AD anyway, plus blunting the offensive is absolutely worth it. And this offensive has been going on for 3-4 months at least. I've observed this several times already, I think it's part of Soviet doctrine to prefer counter-attack over defense. And it makes sense, if you have force-superiority. Maybe it's also part of their chain-of-command dysfunction where generals are made personally responsible for front sections, so they're incentivized to underreport enemy gains. Either way, it shouldn't have happened, it would've been hugely beneficial for the Russians to cut off the Izyum supply route.
