As an American with a Brazilian spouse, there are plenty of cultural differences. One that we have negotiated over time is the best way to play #Canasta. So we've taken our favorite bits of each version and combined them into what we call International Canasta. It takes a lot from the Brazilian version (runs! dead hands! limits on wilds!) but adds more competition over the discard pile (my favorite bit of US Canasta) and also makes games a little shorter.
