The weather has turned, so no more imaging from Melbourne for the next few days. I still have more spoils from the weekend, though. I finally finished a mosaic of the Lobster Claw and Cats Paw nebulae. These sit in the Milky Way near Scorpius and as with all red nebulae, they're hydrogen playing at being a neon sign. As the Milky Way core sets around midnight, we're getting a view *out* of the Milky Way when we look straight up in the early hours. With less crap in the way, we can see distant galaxies and globular clusters. NGC 253 (The Silver Dollar galaxy) is one of the largest and brightest - wider on the sky than the full Moon - and it sits near globular cluster NGC 288. Finally, as summer approaches, the Magellanic Clouds are starting to rise in our southern skies. I used the light pollution filter on the Small cloud, so we get a good view of all the enormous hydrogen nebulae embedded in it. #astrophotography #seestar #astronomy #space #spaaaaaaaaaace #astrodon
