No disrespect to well intentioned people but everyone who is telling anyone to self host needs to sit down in front of a computer and walk through all the steps of doing that. Write them all down, every step from "I want to self host my stuff" to "A URL I can share that points to stuff I made that I can get paid for".
And then do it again with a phone.

@mhoye@cosocial.ca Yeah I deal with this sometimes. People who presume I'm a smart cookie so why am I still using various corporate stuff? And my answer is usually because I want to just USE the tool and not manage and maintain the tool. I manage and maintain my own Wordpress instances (on other people's servers) and it's already a lot.
