If so it was a strategic mistake, because Izyum is the main supply artery, and they made the same mistake the Ukies usually do, favouring PR victories for the election over strategically correct choices. One more needless strategic blunder by the Russian General Staff, which still hasn't been sufficiently reshuffled since the start of the SMO. At least Surovikin is rumoured to the back in Moscow, pray to God Putin finally puts competence first.
