what matters is enough people believe in the soul. and so the church said: "nope" when it comes to AI
it's not a philosophical or even theological victory. it's a political victory. if AI can have a soul, people start talking about AI in ways that are absolutely vile
like rights
it's bad enough some chuds think corporations have rights. now imagine these babbling assholes talking up AI rights

@nixCraft@mastodon.social @benroyce@mastodon.social @tinkel@mastodon.social I mean, I agree with Tinkel. There are no “souls”, full stop. LLMs have none, but then nor do humans. But *from the pope’s specific perspective*, humans do. And I’m happy to see him recognize the AI grifters’ BS for what it is, and call them on it. Sure, there’s some hype he *does* believe. But not this hype. And, in the battle for humanity, I’ll take what allies we can get.
