Holy crap this made me think of [Nier: Automata](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nier:_Automata). I'm pretty sure there is a dialogue, cut scene or some other context in which they say, "do androids dream of..." But I can't remember the last part. Maybe "humans"? And I'm sure Nier got its inspiration from some philosopher or classical litterateur that I don't know of.

It's a reference. The story that became "Blade Runner" was titled: "Do Androids dream of electric sheep?" Written by Philip K Dick.

you're thinking of the part where the tin can robots fuck and then human looking robots appear and you're shocked by their missing penises (and then they bark and when they bark they shoot penises at you. i think. it's been a while since i played Nier)
