@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Throwback to the time I was sent an Excel spreadsheet that implemented a driver for a little USB OLED display using VBA.
Why can Excel talk to USB devices?!? In what situation would anyone need to do that in a spreadsheet?!? Maybe just don't do that?!
Same "Macros have been disabled" prompt as usual too. So that's terrifying.

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange I do not know why this spreadsheet exists by the way. We asked for example code and that is what the OEM gave us.

@ClaireH@blahaj.zone @0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Google have given Chrome an API for web pages to access USB devices. Apple have said absolutely not. https://caniuse.com/webusb

@ClaireH@blahaj.zone @0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange now I'll have nightmares about a world where someone connected a cash register to Excel and does their accounting that way. Or maybe an external numpad keyboard and using Excel as a calculator… the possible horrors are endless.
