i've been on a Dynasty Warriors kick for a few days now, and i remembered DW Gundam 3, which is like the ultimate cel-shaded love letter to Gundam. i had thought it was only on PS3, but apparently it was also released for the 360, so now it's in the mail, which brings me to the reason i booted up my 360 to begin with, just to make sure it still works. last time i booted it up, i was playing Oblivion, pretending like i was 15.

this got me thinking about all the games i've played that are trapped on 6/7th gen consoles. Radiata Stories, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Drakengard, Valkyrie Profile 2, those 3D Castlevanias, the Gundam Musou games, and i'm sure there are many more. to me, this is the only legit reason to rerelease old games, as a sort of preservation effort. these games don't need upscaling, they don't need ray tracing or whatever the hell, they speak for themselves & just need to be playable.
