this got me thinking about all the games i've played that are trapped on 6/7th gen consoles.
Radiata Stories, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Drakengard, Valkyrie Profile 2, those 3D Castlevanias, the Gundam Musou games, and i'm sure there are many more.
to me, this is the only legit reason to rerelease old games, as a sort of preservation effort. these games don't need upscaling, they don't need ray tracing or whatever the hell, they speak for themselves & just need to be playable.

rereleasing an old game such that the majority of the audience is pleased with it seems like a very hard line to walk. i think emulators are by far the best solution from a game preservation standpoint - easier said than done, though.
