@gikkt@wandering.shop Speaking of US players now commentating, I've enjoyed hearing from Tab Ramos this time around - mostly because my most recent, and outstanding memory of him is lying on the pitch with a newly broken cheekbone in 94, fighting off those who tried to assist him because pain had reduced him to instinct. Seems silly all these years later, but I'm just glad he's all right! #WorldCup

  • @lmgenealogy@mstdn.ca @gikkt@wandering.shop Yes. He was the first player that signed with the brand new MLS league in 1995 (though they didn’t start play until 1996). He played for his hometown club, my beloved MetroStars (now the NY Red Bulls). He was great for Metro, but injuries took a toll. Especially playing on the astroturf surface the early MLS clubs played on.
