I decided I like the Chinese term for the Milky Way more than English.
They call it 星河 -star river.
What else do people call it in other places?
Edit: in Chinese it is also known as 銀河 - silver river. Star river is an older term for it it seems.
I still like both over milky way.

I was in Peru a couple of years ago. We went to a planetarium and learned about the night sky as well as viewed constellations through several telescopes. The Inca people called it Mayu, which basically means sacred River from which all life comes. They also made/saw constellations of/in negative space as well as with stars. @chu@climatejustice.social
