I mentioned this in the thread but Bernie Sanders, Steve Bannon and Jacob Coxon have all teamed up to make Anti-AI legislation, plus more people are turning against Trump and AI (like Mamdani) Amodei: I just don’t see how it’s a stable solution to never build the technology. What we need to do is not stop. We need to slow down. Of course you don’t, because it gives you fat stacks of cash

In September 2024, OpenAI had posted a graph showing their new o1 Strawberry model needed exponentially more training for small linear improvements — even on their own pet benchmarks. Which iirc was also predicted by actual scientists before (I don’t not have an actual paper however).
