LLMs were one part of AI research. They basically threw everything else down when they realized the profits. I'm sure other AGI stuff is still going on, but I don't think it's from these companies.

Now that all the LLM companies are hoarding all the graphics cards though it’s probably going to be harder/more expensive for people exploring other avenues =(

From what I’ve heard, AI execs screamed at the engineers until all those who thought we need more advanced models instead of “superscaling” left or shut their mouths.

What profits? They are not even breaking even yet, and it seems people don’t want to pay for what this shit actually costs.
