2.34% of all Americans are trans, according to US government census data. This number absolutely POLEAXES me, and from what I can see in the source data, the number is completely and totally legitimate and based on a colossal datapool of almost 2.5 MILLION respondents.

The previous gold standard research on the trans population was a 2022 Pew study with a huge respondent pool of a little over 100,000 respondents, and found 1.6% of Americans were trans.
