Hmm, so somebody from a publishing company just emailed me about picking up my book. Their email contains impeccable editing and shows (on the surface) a deep understanding of the book, its niche, and what reviewers have said. As if they've done a lot of research and at least read the free sample.
But their email address is .hodder@gmail.com.
Seems legit... ;-P
Seriously, authors, be careful out there. I get 2-3 similar emails every day.

@GrahamDowns@mastodon.africa Ones I've been getting quite a lot of lately, as the ones that say something like , "I tried to post a review on Amazon but couldn't. Is your book on Good Reads?" First could I sent the GoodReads link, and within 20 minutes a "review" had appeared, compiled by an AI bot from the blurb, and full of fulsome praise. Completely worthless as a review, and the motive unclear. More details here: https://methodius.blogspot.com/2025/09/a-literary-mystery.html #writing #writers #authors
