Oh damn, that's a good list of open source weirdos, most of them unsurprisingly white dudes...It really sucks that there's so many creeps in open source. I was surprised by The Primogen associations, Louis Rossmann is a guy I kinda suspected of being not good. Welp, two more people to cut out of my YouTube watching.

i just don’t understand why it seems like every (mostly white) dude just wants to shit on other people for no good reason. i really don’t understand. takes more effort to be trash and the outcome sucks for literally everyone, them included, yet they still just love be hateful in some weird way.

I think this list was naming them fascists originally. But now he relaxed the definition and included even more. What is the purpose of publishing such a wide reaching (shit)list of people? When it was naming them fascists he was exposing himself to defamation lawsuits I’m pretty sure. Drew certainly gives the ick with such passive agressive stuff. Maybe he should put himself on that list of his as well.

there’s a few names i’d probably add; one is peter simon, known as probono, the appimage maintainer, a professional wayland hater (he’s maintaining a ginormous gist that lists the failures of wayland, most of which is not true, not true anymore or at least grossly exaggerated).

I’m commenting on Jack Dorsey, might apply to others… Support for questionable persons might be a good reason to shame him - I’d like to see a bigger picture in all those cases. Is he focusing on assholes, or does he support 1000 projects including left extremists, right extremists or whatever to support “cool projects”? While anyone supporting the [far] right should be shamed, the perspective is important - to me at least. Shaming him for supporting “censorship resistant infrastructure” because “weirdos like those” is… horrible. A few days A/I gave up. We need censorship resistant infra! We need Tor and alike. Yes, bad people will use it. There is no simple solution. Banning/shaming “censorship resistant infra” for being that is no solution. If you protest against his presence and you win (by him withdrawing) don’t use it against him. That’s kind of lame. He gave in, you won. Take the win and move on.

Somehow I thought DeVault would've had the self reflexive humour to add himself to the list as well. Between his impulsive outbursts and lolicon allegations (from people he had impulsive outbursts at), and with tongue firmly in cheek, surely he could qualify.

The weirdness is much less visible in Primeagen’s content nowadays (albeit I’ve almost completely stopped watching it), I’m not overly surprised devault has nothing concrete to point at - in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if he has scrubbed the more egregious things from his youtube channel. It’s never been big attention-grabbing things but more a certain level of crypto-fashy offhanded remarks and general vibes - been brought up in the weekly snarks a few months back. The biggest recent criticism I could make is having DHH on fire over an hour with allegedly no pushback on how terrible his “distro” is given how much primagen supposedly prides himself on his technical prowess. Then again, he’s not using omarchy himself so what does he care if the rubes in his audience get duped into trashing their machines?

I only knew Lunduke from his Linux sucks series and was surprised to see him on this list. so I did a quick search and found lunduke keeps his own ‘software politics tracker’ which of course does not track all politics, but just “woke”, “leftist” and “dei”. Apparently Gnome just celebrating trans day of inclusion is a bad thing. Ugh. Wish I’d never given that guy my time and attention. according to him, the Linux foundation also ‘pledged fealty to the UN’. wtf even is that supposed to mean? is this common conspiracy shit or is he completely off his rocker?
