Wife showed me Spies Like Us, so I wanted to show her RocketMan (1997), but I have to clarify that with a year because for some reason they made an Elton John biopic by that name in 2019 and I forgot about it, because there hasn't been a biopic with something new to say or any reason to lodge in a single person's brain since 2007 with Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. I couldn't legally drink in 2007, and they're still making these fuckers.
None of which is to cast shade upon Elton John, or to imagine that RocketMan '97 is a brilliant movie. But it does legitimately have more reason to exist, on an artistic level, than a 2019 musician biopic. Yes, I'm talking about the movie where a giant CGI fart bubble travels from one character's space suit to another while suspenseful music plays, and yes I'm serious.
