@melioristicmarie @cashew Voluntarily, yes, forced, also yes, which is why I take the stance that I do.
Why would you assume that jobs that are underpaid now, where abuse is common (wage theft, lack of protection from employers or the public, lack of adherence to safety standards, the list goes on), would suddenly become less prone to abuse after making it impossible for workers to leave?

@melioristicmarie @cashew If your answer to all of that is unionization, great, we can pick up this conversation again after unionization becomes widespread in North America. If the answer is wages, then let’s see wages improved for the existing workers before we speculate on high paying entry level jobs for students. Suggestions need to be evaluated based on how things are, and if it needs the entire world to change before it can be a good idea, it’s not such a good idea.
