People in tech really need to rethink what they believe old is. I have people in their 30s and 40s tell me that a 60 year old can’t read normal sized type or that everything has to be the maximum contrast. We’ve been using a computer since the early 80s. We had the first iPhones. WTF are you talking about. I wear glasses. I have since the 6th grade. My mother is 84 and owns an iPhone, iPad, and laptop. She has smart tvs and spends a lot of time on YouTube.
The perception is way off.

@dtm@mastodon.cc Douglas Adams was right: 1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works. 2. Anything that’s invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it. 3. Anything invented after you’re thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

@dtm@mastodon.cc I think because smartphones obfuscated the nature of drives and folder structures, the kids don’t know they exist, whereas people who programmed VCRs have memories of how computers actually works.
