The biggest problem with bisexuality is mono-attracted people have some of their gender identity wrapped up in a feedback loop of "you are attracted to my gender and you are attracted to me, therefore my gender is affirmed" which a bisexual cannot provide.
This is, I think, why a statistically significant number of bisexuals end up in abusive relationships, or find themselves being mistreated.

I certainly experienced weird problems in my dating life before I met my wife, most of which seemed to stem from being incapable of affirming their gender through my gaze. Turns out this is not true if you're looking at a another bisexual.
