Elon Musk is reusing Trump’s anti-trans strategy. It’s unlikely to work. The world’s richest man is spending at least $100 million on the midterm elections to support the Republican Party and his far-right agenda. But it looks like Elon Musk’s focus won’t be the economy, or the war in Iran or artificial intelligence. It won’t be his repellent ideas about race and his advocacy for “white solidarity.” Instead, Musk has come out of the gate with a barrage of ads targeting Democrats for not being sufficiently supportive of discrimination against transgender Americans.

Press X to doubt. As stupid as it is, the “men in women’s sports” bullshit as well as the “save the children” narratives and even the decade-old bathroom bills seems to occupy the minds of a non-zero amount of idiots. “I don’t have a job and I’m going to have to declare bankruptcy to get life-saving healthcare, but holy shit, do you know there are men playing in a women’s sport I only derisively laughed at previously!!!1111”

  • The anti-trans ads work both ways. Of course they’ll work. All they need to do is add a small lead to their baseline turnout(*) and they’ll win it. Source: watching this tactic work every election for decades. * or cut turnout from their opponent. same thing.

If you’re going to embed the Twitter link in your post from the article, perhaps at least replace it with a nitter link for user convenience and privacy?
