Can’t help but say Trump did not bring us Citizens United, The Petrodollar, destruction if the fairness doctrine, or any of the bullshit levers he pulled to get to power. The government hasn’t been “of the people” entirely for a while.

I would argue that it really hasn’t ever been that. I think maybe the closest it ever was that was in the 1990s, but I think people in the LGBTQ community old enough to remember that time firsthand might disagree. To me, it feels like a lot of backsliding has happened since then, with a few small steps forward here and there. The only other period I can think of that could be reasonably argued was the results of The New Deal, but since that was before Roe v Wade and the Civil Rights Act and the EPA, yeah it’s kinda hard to celebrate it without mentioning a few caveats. But maybe we should bring back that 90% corporate tax rate…
