@FediPact@cyberpunk.lol My two cents: IMO Meta's incursion into the fedi was part of an attempt to openwash their slimy operation in a time when regulators were breathing down their necks on both sides of the pond. The threat to them is dissipating now; the antitrust trial is over and, with the fash in control here, regulation is dead in the US. And now big tech is moving to corrupt the GDPR in the EU, so the age of digital regulation in Europe may be ending too. If you ask me the remaining worry here isn't that joke of a bridge. Recall that at the beginning of the year, when Zuckerberg went (more) fash, most of the larger moderate servers blocked or limited Threads, functionally if not spiritually joining the radical FediPact instances in turning their backs on Meta. It would be more correct at this point to say that Threads federates with mastodon.social, than with the fedi as a whole. The bigger problem is Meta's ongoing involvement with SWICG and the AP1.1 development process. That is truly terrifying and that's what I will continue to target with my intermittent rants on here. My hope is that, if they once saw fedi as a threat to their command-and-control silo, they will now understand the threat to have been neutralized by the successful corporate recuperation of the decentralization-buzz by Bluesky, and decide it's no longer worth the bother. Oh, and if FediPact Day does ever arrive, fedi is having a BIG PARTY and everyone's invited except for Zuckerberg's useful idiots #FediPact
