Since zzt made some posts about Doctorow posting right-wing shit, I decided to go read pluralistic’s blog about “3 more AI psychoses”
Guys, he’s cooked.
Doctorow has always written like a squirrel on crack, but his writing’s getting worse. It’s semantic flattening & false equivalence all the way down. He just redefines everything until his position is so vague it’s unfalsifiable, and everyone else is a super-specific disingenuous strawman.

The whole piece is just a continuation of his self-defending “purity culture” diatribe, and it’s just as sloppy. It reads like he’s defending programmers who use AI, but it’s pretty fuckin’ obvious to anyone who’s disagreed with him about AI lately that he’s defending himself. Super weird article, super weird examples of Trump & Xi being “broken clocks,” super weird insistence that he doesn’t like AI while tone policing everyone who doesn’t like AI.
