@Infrogmation@mastodon.online I click the back button to disable, right?
-
@anthropy@mastodon.derg.nz 2026-05-05 22:06
@Infrogmation@mastodon.online websites that do that instantly become entirely optional to me tbh. I could probably hack my way there by having javascript disabled and/or deleting the right elements, but frankly there are enough other things to do in the world and in the end 99% of the internet is optional, and it deserves to feel optional when it does this

@Infrogmation Stop doing autoplay fullscreen ads for softcore porn mobile games that don't exist and point to malware downloads then

-
@LaNaehForaday@universeodon.com 2026-05-05 19:41
@Infrogmation I read the words "DISABLE YOUR AD BLOCKER" as, Click the X in the upper right corner of your screen.
-
@jack@xeno.glyphpress.com 2026-05-05 19:57
@Infrogmation Often the ad links are how the people who made the content you're looking at get paid. Knock yourself out when it's giant media conglomerates, but smaller content creators are a different story.

@ppb1701@ppb.social 2026-05-05 20:01
@Infrogmation add to that "Install the app for a better experience"

@Infrogmation the computer the teacher has to use at university doesnt have any ad blocker extension installed today, the history teacher wanted to show something because it would add to the explanation, and there was a huge ad that said "click here for FREE ROBUX" internet ads feel less like ads and more like scams
-
@apzpins@some.apz.fi 2026-05-05 21:04
@Infrogmation No. And if I'm really required to view the site, the nag popup gets nuked too.

@superblox@mastodon.social 2026-05-05 21:08
@Infrogmation We hate ads! We hate paywalls! Hey, why have so many journalists lost their jobs? Why is there only cheap AI slop left?
-
@kirih@mastodon.world 2026-05-05 21:17
@Infrogmation I don't know how anyone surfs the web anymore without an ad blocker. Its lunacy out there. H NO!
-
@AvonVilla@aus.social 2026-05-05 21:19
@Infrogmation I don't care if the content creators are "small". I block (therefore I am).
-
@technomancy@hey.hagelb.org 2026-05-05 21:23
@Infrogmation my website: "oh no, it looks like you don't have an ad blocker installed! you better go fix that, please! I can wait, go do it now"

@jackwilliambell@rustedneuron.com 2026-05-05 21:38
@Infrogmation Worst part? They could totally show ads without trackers through their own servers and my tracker blocker (I don't run a fucking ad blocker) can't stop them. Hell, I'd even be good with that. Show me the damn ads. They. Just. Won't.
-
@effariwhy@theforkiverse.com 2026-05-05 21:40
@Infrogmation It's an instant back button for me.
-
@Zaboopy@mastodon.social 2026-05-05 22:07

@sirwumpus@tilde.zone 2026-05-05 22:38
@Infrogmation I'll never disable my ad-blocker! No web site has unique enough information that cannot be found else where with some effort.
-
@RVLara23@mastodon.social 2026-05-05 22:41
@Infrogmation It's amazing these businesses really don't understand I'd rather not look at their site than disable my ad blocker.
-
@johnlogic@sfba.social 2026-05-05 23:47
@Infrogmation If a web site tells me to disable my ad blocker, I might look for a cached copy at archive.ph . If I find one, I might share the link to the archived copy, to save others the hassle of seeking it.
-
@illogical_me@mastodon.cloud 2026-05-06 00:37
@Infrogmation /me *disables javascript instead*
-
@Bradley_JF@mastodon.online 2026-05-06 00:42
@Infrogmation Yeah... I just won't view the site, thanks.
-
@DrBones@mastodon.world 2026-05-06 00:52
@Infrogmation I might allow ads to read the article, but then turn the blocker back on as I leave. I DON'T WANT ADS
-
@A_Minion@mastodon.social 2026-05-06 01:05
@Infrogmation The gross practice of pushing ads up our . . . came about with HTML & the web. Some of us wanted to see something different like maybe the Librarians should govern what was appropriate. We built it, we paid for it, we should have kept control. Add cookies to you list of useless code that is simply too invasive. Many of the problems that we face today could have been easily fixed had we kept control.
-
@TonyaMarie@chaosfem.tw 2026-05-06 01:50
@Infrogmation If I can't access your content without ads or giving you my identity in some way, I can live without it.
-
@chris@social.losno.co 2026-05-06 01:54
@Infrogmation That's where the site gets the W from me. The Ctrl/Cmd + W.
-
@yumcabartist@mastodon.social 2026-05-06 03:26
@Infrogmation Well, I use Brave to view site with many ads without any problem.
-
@lilith_silverstein@lgbtqia.space 2026-05-06 04:03
@Infrogmation Time to utilize ublock origin's element zapper
-
@skedarwarrior@techhub.social 2026-05-06 04:12
@Infrogmation Yeah, agreed. the whole reason I enable adblockers is to block trackers not the ads themselves. Ublock origin doesn't just block ads nor do adblockers in general. This is why i refuse and will go on another website for the same info.

@jablkoziemne@101010.pl 2026-05-06 04:26
@Infrogmation using internet without protection is bad idea.
