Speaking of privacy , here is a little test.
Use a browser ( clear caches and cookies ) .
If you use e/os , use a fake location but the real ip address
Go to ChatGPT.com by the browser
Ask the question : what is the weather ( only these words)
ChatGPT will give you the weather corresponding to your ip address
If you ask how it knows the location, it answers with luck , hallucination, guess based on previous questions (which don’t exist ) , …

@murena@mastodon.social If you use the fake ip address on e/os , it answers that you should go on weather.com , because it can’t give the answer. If you use a vpn it give you the weather corresponding to the ip address of the vpn server. #murena #privacy

@Paul_stilgar@mastodon.social @murena@mastodon.social I tried this with Claude, and it asked me where I am, or if I would like a forecast for where I am based, giving that location as the location of my ISP. I asked it how it knew where I am based and it said it was from my profile information, although I have not set up a profile as far as I know.
