@gglockner@social.seattle.wa.us When I was looking for a replacement plugs yesterday — I used my last Eve spare — I saw some in-wall outlets and was tempted. But I've also got some in-wall switches and need to replace one of those. It's a pain in the ass to turn off the circuit, open up the outlet, fiddle with all the wiring, and get it all closed back up again. So I stuck with with the smart plugs. (1/2)

I do like the in-wall switches for lights and fans, though. I have three installed. I've got one programmed so that when a motion sensor on my stairs senses me or my dogs going down after dark, it automatically turns on the big overhead deck lights to illuminate the front yard. It then shuts them off automatically after a certain amount of time. That's the kind of automation that's really useful for everyday life. (2/2) @gglockner@social.seattle.wa.us
