There are two major problems: The Democrats are a bourgeois party, they cannot be reformed from within because their entire base is the capitalist class. The state in the US isn’t a neutral state, because the state is a product of class struggle. The state in the US is a capitalist state, one with the specific characteristics of a capitalist superstructure. You cannot reform this into socialism, you have to break it and replace it.
