I'm using Linux PCs as routers.
I was doing that back in the latter 1990s with dialup. Most folks would just connect their one PC to the Internet over dialup, but I set up a house LAN and used a Linux desktop to keep the dialup connected and do NAT routing.
Had to pester my parents for a second phone line so I could do this. 😂
Thankfully this was the *latter* 1990s, so the dialup ISPs didn't care that I was on 24/7.
Nowadays I'm doing the same thing, except with fiber.

@jbrownesq@mastodon.social @d1@autistics.life Whenever somebody gets excited about a consumer #router, I can't help but chuckle and think back to this graph. In the article where this graph is featured, it is captioned, “Pictured: flawless victory.” Consumer #routers suck. Use a real #computer! Even if it's a dinky little box that looks like a cheap knock-off of the Mac Mini, it'll eat consumer routers for breakfast. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/01/numbers-dont-lie-its-time-to-build-your-own-router/ #Linux #IT
