I was disciplined for wanting to discuss LGBTQIA issues at school after the home of a classmate in the village was targeted. He didn't come back afterwards.
Class discussions included rants about how bisexuals needed to "just pick one" instead of being so greedy.
Fun times, the mid-2000s.

It got better when I graduated, but I decided to be less out when I moved further south for college. My first week there, I met a girl from not far from my hometown. I liked her and came out to her when the flirting got heavier. She said she figured and that it meant we could only be friends. She changed her mind 3 days later. We've now been married over a decade.
