Anthropic, devoted roughly a third of its IPO prospectus to warnings of the existential risks to humanity of its technology, ahead of its listing, which is expected later this year and could be the largest ever." Wasn't sure whether to post this but... it is part of our history. This is Eden Camp near Malton, Yorkshire, a former Prisoner of War camp for Italian combatants during WWII, now a modern history museum. This was one of the accommodation units, roughly built and probably icy cold during the British winters. The kids will love the tanks, especially when they move! #FensterFreitag #FenêtreVendredi #ViernesDeVentana #FfenestrDyddGwener #WindowFriday

Parenting was different then: my mother told me after I'd failed the 11+ exam (itself a failed selection method to fit available grammar school places to a bell curve) that 'I wasn't as clever as I thought I was.' I didn't need much of a push but that impetus gave me the boost to prove her wrong. And, I did. #ParentingInThe50s

What am I reading? Nearly finished Matt Haig's 'How to Stop Time'. A bit similar to The Midnight Library, though a different story, with its flying about. Might try another of Matt's but am finding the wandering in place and time and prose a little tedious. Next to read: 'Death Do they Part' by Jonathan Whitelaw, 3rd in the Parker Sisters' (Cosy) Mystery series. Something lighter after Matt's tome. My own book 'A Question of Resistance' by Paul Smith,...

Built for the covid era, this shelter is outside the Craven Arms, Appletreewick. We had lunch in there isolated from the elements (& virus transmission) and the window overlooked the lovely North Yorkshire countryside of Wharfedale. #FensterFreitag #FenêtreVendredi #ViernesDeVentana #FfenestrDyddGwener #WindowFriday

What's Sir David got that Garage, Badenuff, Palmer, et al, don't have. That's easy: principles, humility, a quiet presence and truly popular. More than ever, we need a vote for 'None of the Above' and they stand down for 5 years if we vote for nobody. Then we vote again for new people.
