#3GoodThings A long and stressful day, made easier by people being kind and helpful. 1. Helpful receptionist and helpful nurse got us set up so my daughter could get her estradiol shot today. 2. Two separate people let my car in despite the horrendous traffic. Which is kind of four good things but for my 3. I'll say that I got to eat three different kinds of homegrown produce for my lunch today.

#3GoodThings 1) dryer is fixed and shelves are up -- kitchen is almost back to normal chaos level. 2) I cooked with homegrown zuchinni and garlic and basil for the potluck today... not very well, but I did it. 3) did some chores I've been postponing.

#3GoodThings -- our shower inspection is done! The project is finished! -- my husband fixed the dryer. (Fingers crossed it stays fixed) -- I found the energy to cook a wholesome dinner that used up leftovers.

#3GoodThings Had a family day out. We visited my mom and celebrated George Cyril Wellbeloved's birthday. Then we took my daughter to a classic movie house and saw "Singin' in the Rain" and she loved the theater and loved the movie. I wish she would have a time-slip adventure and go back in time and watch movies with me in the days of revival houses.

RE: https://kind.social/@azteclady/116909056824150282 A powerful graphic novel. I was particularly struck by the connection raised between the disappearing of books and the disappearing of people.

#3GoodThings 1) Remembered that I wanted to reach out to my sister more and we had a great phone call. 2) She had a good idea for my office windows. (I've been having trouble getting natural light without eyestrain.) 3) I realized that I may be experiencing autistic burnout. Which of course is not a good thing, but now I have a sense of how I can help myself. I asked for some alone time today and that helped a lot.

Oh dear. A website with Cloudflare keeps asking me to verify over and over that I'm not a bot -- which according to a short film I saw, means I probably am a bot. :pumpkin_scared:

The inevitable end of having work done outside the house: mourning the smooshed plants, and cleaning the definitely not recyclables out of the recycling bin. #GardeningIsPain

What the hell is up with theater trailers? Went to see Project Hail Mary today and they were so loud, it was even too much for my hard-of-hearing husband. Also lots of flashing lights; I literally had to close my eyes and plug my ears, not to mention take a migraine pill. Luckily the sound for the movie itself was fine. We both enjoyed the movie and both agreed the book was better.

My family is doing a jigsaw of vintage cereal ads and one section of text has me very intrigued. It seems to be asking "will you be ready?" but I can't tell yet if it's for a dream date or the Last Trumpet.

What's a good look look for a #TransGirl going to an adult dance with a "prom" theme? She's a beautiful Amazon in her 20s.

After several years of failure and feeling a lot like the lord from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" whose castles always fell into the swamp, I finally once again have more artichokes than I can possibly eat! #FoodGardening #Gardening

#AmReading, still, The Book Witch and interested in where the plot is going. Also, the "fictional" Duke is decidedly charming. But it's driving me up the wall that a book so obviously designed to appeal to book lovers (both the story and the physical object) has editing/proofreading mistakes! I bet it drives the author up the wall too. The Book Witch herself must be dying of embarrassment. @bookstodon #RomanceBooks #RomancelandiaClub

My #TBRChallenge read was Dauntless, a gay romance with some mystery set on a very isolated Australian island. Bonus Simpsons overtones. 😂 https://willaful.wordpress.com/2026/04/15/tbr-challenge-dauntless-by-lisa-henry-and-j-a-rock/ #RomanceBooks #RomancelandiaClub

I'm still reading my fourth #TransRightsReadathon book (Pretty by KB Brookins -- it's intense and can't be gulped down) so I've donated $40 to the Transgender Law Canter and $40 to a local organization that I've found helpful. I haven't seen a whole lot of posts about the readathon this year, I hope people are talking about it other places.

I read To Broadway by Maurane Mazars, a #GraphicNovel with images that made me think of Jules Feiffer's passionate modern dancers. That's apt because it's set in the late 1950s. Uli is a young gay man studying dance at a prestigious studio in Germany. But no one there understands his love for popular dance. (One of my favorite scenes is of him alone in a theater, entranced by what I recognized as an impressionistic watercolor vision of "An American in Paris.&a...

My second #TransRightsReadathon book was Women's Hotel by Daniel Lavery. I immediately felt right at home, because though set in 1960s Manhattan, it reminded me so much of the sort of classic British books #FurrowedMiddlebrow reprints -- which I later learned was quite deliberate. https://mainstreetmag.com/a-conversation-with-daniel-m-lavery/ I thought it somewhat lacking in plot and through line -- which can be an issue for me with those books as well. Perhaps Lavery found the perfect...
