I... bought an air conditioner on Friday night. Took me a bit, and I had to break out my tools, but I have it hooked up for the last day and a half. I can't believe I denied myself this amazing technology. First good night's sleep in a month. 🐧

This afternoon I had the pleasure of presenting to city council on the subject of their review, and city administration's recommendation, to close down the Free Fare Zone. The free fare zone is a program that has a set of stations that bisects the heart of my neighbourhood in downtown Calgary be usable at no cost, to the great benefit of local residents, community partners, businesses and tourists. #yyc #yyccc #Calgary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2umjZFfgV0o&feature=youtu....

I've had access to dozens of voters and electoral lists over the years in my role as constituency association president, campaign manager and political staffer. Each time I've finished my work, I've destroyed the CDs and wiped USB sticks that held that data. This is data that includes your home address, full name and phone number. It would never even occured to me to SELL the list to the highest bidder. #ableg

Update: Council will now only allow the building of single family homes, and only single family homes, in ~68% of the city. It's a blanket ban on building housing. Just another blanket. This time, snuffing out affordability. #yyccc #yyc #housing https://mastodon.world/@vsp/116299536518919338

I don't blame the EFF for leaving Twitter. 99% of my peeps aren't on the platform anymore, either. Only having a 97% drop is impressive, really. The people are just not there anymore. #EFF #Twexit

For context: - During the #ForeverCanadian petition process, I was asked to sign not once, not twice, not three times... but seven separate times, by seven people, at different times and places, all in person. - The separatist petition? 0. #ableg #cdnpoli #iamcanadian

A colleague asked me why I don't drive. For context, I've had my license since I was 18, and have thousands of driving hours under my belt, both personal and for work. I am a good driver and enjoy driving. My answer, though? HAVE YOU SEEN THE PRICE OF INSURANCE & GAS?!?! #Affordability #Cars #Driving #Expensive

Every time a technician or tradesperson comes into my apartment (to fix something, etc) they always do a double take at my enclosure. No idea why.

RE: https://mastodon.world/@vsp/116299536518919338 FYI: I showed up to city hall and said don't repeal re-zoning. #yyccc #yyc It's a bad idea. I also flagged the dozens of unfilled Affordability Taskforce recommendations that this council is still sitting on their tufts on. My frustration? My rent has gone up 33% and council is paralyzed.

So I've been thinking: banning social media for the youths might not make sense. So I thought some more about it. It's really marketing and algorithms that are at fault. Then, I thought some more. What are these apps if not ads and warped algorithms? Nothing else remains. So ban those apps. Ban them yesterday. #cdnpoli

So, I was helping a friend, and I needed to move a Workspace subscription from one account to another (it's attached to a Bluehost account in question). #Bluehost Bluehost's only way to resolve their broken system is to nuke the entire Google Workspace profile, delete every email and delete the drives. So I need a new domain host. Bluehost ain't cutting it. Any recommendations? #Hosting

So far, I'm seeing a catastrophic failure in leadership at city hall. #Housing Repeal of the 2024 changes to zoning — and returning to 60%+ of my city being single family homes and *only* single family homes is horrifying. Banning building homes is not a strategy, #yyccc. #yyc

I wished a happy #Holi to a neighbour in the elevator tonight. Clearly, he was celebrating (suit and all) and he was about to head to a gathering of his community. I think it made his night (so much so he almost missed his floor). The look of joy on his face was pretty awesome. Happy Holi! #Holi2026

I’m pleased to be speaking at the Childcare Operators Summit (COS) 2026, taking place March 14–15 at Bow Valley College in Calgary. It's been a while since I've done a little public speaking, and I'm chatting with childcare operators on some practical tips on the basics of working with your local politician and policy makers.
