Love my local #MeshCore group but I hate how much #VibeCoding seems to be part of the culture I suspect there is a lot of technical debt being accrued and that when the bottom drops out, they won't be able to maintain these tools.

Every time I see AI-generated imagery used by people I otherwise respect, I just feel so tired. I just want to disengage from it entirely. You could have literally used a free stock photo, even a crayon drawing. I would have preferred the crayon drawing.

The 90s dad rock cover band is soliciting singers. We are waiting to hear back on availability, but these are our singer test songs that I need to be able to nail (on bass) by Monday. "My Own Worst Enemy" (Lit) "When I'm Gone" (3 Doors Down) "Possum Kingdom" (The Toadies) "Fine Again" (Seether) "Stacy's Mom" (Fountains of Wayne) I know them mostly and none are super hard, esp if I don&...

I used to have a children's anthology of #SciFi #ShortStories with one about how everyone was getting on the last ship to New Earth and the girl was running to her grandfather's house to convince him to come but he's planting flowers anyway, they miss the last ship and she's crying and he says, "This is New Earth. They took the old one with them. " I've been thinking about this story for like 40 years. Wish I knew who wrote it.

That wacky thing where you don't know why you were blocking someone because you didn't take notes so you unblock them and discover that you were actually following them before that Guess I'll figure it out sooner or later or it was a tragic error

I've spent part of today waiting for one computer to compile and for another to render. I feel like a power user.

I need a "dead to me" browser plugin One button: - blocks the domain - removes any references to it from my search results - lets me check a box / enter a note for WHY I no longer wish to acknowledge the existence of said thing (e.g. "AI slop") Anything like this out there for #Vivaldi or #Chrome?

We need to figure out how to make something awesome out of the soon-to-be-liquidated data center GPUs and systems that will be flooding the market after the kaboom. OK, they're not good for gaming, but they must be adaptable for something, right?

A guest speaker this evening at church has absolutely no idea how to use a microphone and I have given up trying to compensate (on the mixing board).

A fun thing about using a battery/inverter system is being VERY aware of power efficiency. Mine has multiple USB and USB-C outlets (with PD) and that is by far the most efficient way to use it. If you have to turn on the power inverter to run things from the AC outlet, you lose a lot in the conversion process. This is especially silly since most of those things are wall warts converting it right back to DC. Result: I heavily favor buying things which can run off 12VDC or USB. #solar #battery

I don't care about #opera at all and this is fascinating and entertaining. Clearly a production of enthusiasm and love, rather than algorithm-chasing. https://youtu.be/MpHxItOvPyQ?si=Z0p7XvofL1x-oINi #singing #musicking

The storage unit is EMPTY. Everything we own is at the house. If we can't find a place for it here, we get rid of it.

My wife and firstborn are going overseas for a church mission trip for 10 days, where they will help build a home for a local church. This means 15yo mini-me and I have the house to ourselves. Plans: - label the power breaker box - wire the house for CAT6 - set up the rain barrels - put shelving up basically everywhere - watch so many movies - have no drama

This sort of work is peak live music performance, but also system design. Fascinating look behind the scenes at how The Late Show (RIP) band performs, adapts, and improvises against constant moving targets. Pedal boards, talkbacks, guitars, workflows, etc. Something for everybody. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ7Fu8BzwMc #GearSquad #LiveMusic #Musicking

I have been somewhat productive today. Went for a walk, read a home improvement book about flooring, repaired a screen door, found and installed screens on a few other strategic places, and installed a window fan so our living room CO2 has dropped from 1020ppm to 684ppm in the last half hour. Air in the whole house feels much better.

After church this morning, I was home solo for a bit so I played bass a while then drove an hour to band rehearsal where I, well, played more bass for about 2.5 hours and then Tony's church was without a bass player for their evening services so I was invited to sit in so I played more bass, like 8 or 10 songs that I'd never heard or seen before based only on my ear and some really dodgy chord charts and it turned out fine Anyway, I got to play lots of bass. It was a good day...

Comments by my children upon watching Starship Troopers for the first time: I can't wait until the bugs kill all of these people I hate everyone in this movie Why's that guy get shot in the head instead of this guy? I feel like the bugs are better characters Goodness, I hope Carmen gets roasted Is she dead? Please be dead Please, kill this guy [to the bug, referring to the "hero"] We get to follow the bugs for the rest of the movie, right?

Finally resting after a long day of moving. Our first evening in the new house. I have a lot more of this to look forward to.

Day 1 report in the new house: this place is stupidly large compared to our apartment, especially with the outdoor spaces. I keep losing track of where my family is. That never happens in the apartment.
