I’m reasonably aware of how time works but it really blows my mind that the temporal distance between the release of “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” (1982) and the premiere of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” was only FIVE (5) YEARS

No, no he is not, ChatGPT. Just because we have the same last name doesn’t mean we’re father and son.

Watching "Citizen Kane" (1941) the way it was meant to be seen — an 80's era NTSC telecine stretched to the wrong aspect ratio played on an airplane seat back monitor.

After Maverick and The Final Reckoning, TC should continue to only make legacy sequels where side characters spend the first half of the film praising him for his service (“he’s the best to ever do it!”), and he needs to do it ONE MORE TIME because no other human can do what he does. 2027- Days of Thunder: Trickle Up 2028- Eyes Wide Open 2029- Jerry Maguire: Play with Heart 2030- The Firm$ 2031- Lions For Lambs: President Irving 2032- Far and Away… Like, Way Out There 2033- Riskier Business

gang - I have a LOT of DVDs and Blu-rays and years ago, in order to save space I chucked the cases and put the discs into sleeves, but now I'm reconsidering this system as well any good new ideas on how to store/organize DVDs & Blu-rays that both saves space AND makes them easier to access?

“Spider-Noir” is now playing on Prime Video. I recommend watching it in black and white. A ton of very creative people worked for months and months on the visual effects for the show (of which there are a LOT) but you wouldn’t know it by watching the credits.

East Side Effects' visual effects reel for "Severance" season two. Includes a quick breakdown of that shot that was promoted as "all practical" when in fact it relied on digital visual effects to complete the illusion. https://vimeo.com/1194550030

What a dreadful place we are in where a mega billionaire says something like “You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens. I promise you.” and not be shamed by the culture and the people around him into making a public apology the very next day.

If you have family that doesn't understand the seriousness of all of this, perhaps you could send this link to those family members, a segment from the PBS Newshour. Maybe it will help open their eyes. PBS Newshour: White House posts echo rhetoric linked to extremist groups https://youtu.be/YXzzuWrYDV4?si=5Rt2p_w97QmOZaXr

I read the piece again and became even more disappointed. 2026: "Docter said Pixar found some parents didn’t want entertainment to force them to have a conversation they weren’t ready for with their children. “We’re making a movie, not hundreds of millions of dollars of therapy,” he said." 2009:

Why didn’t they “just” build a five story Death Star interior for just one shot instead of “relying” on visual effects trickery? “Star Wars” (1977)
