Music fans, do you have a favorite album or band/musician from the 80s? 🎺 I heard someone claim that nothing good came out of this decade but it can't be true. Can it? #music

<< OCD content warning: common intrusive thought >> I made a one-button iPhone shortcut that makes sure volume is up and starts a 2-minute timer so I'm reminded to turn off the stove. (🔥 is drying a cast iron pan.) My issue: The timer has no name. Thankfully for now I'm *likely* to know why I set the timer, but I want my screen to say something like Turn off Stove as the alarm is going off. I will give this more thought. Pls chime in if you have an i...

With Anthr-pic sucking up rare physical books and destroying them, I have an idea. We get organized and save what we can. New libraries/museums. Maybe a regular event for the community to spend time learning about certain texts, where they can be viewed in other parts of the world, etc. 📚💡 New England what do we think about this? Not a single billionaire is acceptable. Thankfully the rest of us literally outnumber them like 1,000,000:1 so they stand no chance when we fight together - even imperfectly 🌅

A huge number of people are disabled. Even if we’re not (we don’t need glasses, we don’t have schizophrenia,…) it’s worth keeping the topic in mind. At the very least because you can join the club at any moment. The best people I know have a disability. At least one. I feel conflicted about using the term “disability pride” myself, but certainly disability isn’t a thing to be ashamed of. https://www.crutchesandspice.com https://www.kendradepinto.com/links 2 people who are doing 🔑 work here...

Working on my Spanish. Are these two sentences both right? ¿Necesita que vaya alguien a su casa? ¿Necesita que alguien vaya a su casa? I’m only given the first one as a translation, but coming from English, I guessed the second. If it matters, can you think of a way to remember this? Does Spanish generally keep the verbs close to each other? #español #Spanish

Like a lot of people, I have an iPhone for the time being (until my next phone). I’m so curious to learn about the different automations /shortcuts people have made. Mainly bc there is so much unused potential that I haven’t been taking advantage of. Please share if you’d like! #apple #code #coding #ios #iphone

I'm trying to streamline and simplify my approach to media for most days, include various perspectives. If you hail from a place outside the U.S. then would you be willing to share a news source or two that you look at fairly often? I've got Canada covered pretty well. Mx, too. Same goes for Australia, Japan, Spain, the UK - but feel free to comment. Popular sources? Reliable reporting? Indigenous perspective? I appreciate your contribution here. And ty for the boosts! #cur...

This might be a different thing, but do we have a term for images generated with “AI”? It’s not LLM, is it? (I think of LLM as speech/text, not visual output) #AI

If you’re not gay and/or don’t want to hear about grindr, keep scrolling. Bit of a (perhaps “no duh”) PSA: They look to be SUPER manipulative. For one, I’ve had a friend tell me there are very few tops in the Boston area. I’m like hello 🙋 but also seeing very few bottoms. We’re each shown profiles of people who are mostly incompatible with us 🤦 I imagine just enough to keep users interested and feeling like conxion is right around the corner - if we pay Grindr or stay 🧑💻 a little longer. RE: https://social.mondoweiss.net/@mondoweiss/116963589666924017 A bunch of people are obviously (and SPECIFICALLY) responsible for this. Nuremberg 21.0 can’t come soon enough. Where are we at with it? I’m proposing 21.0 as a nod to the 21st Century, and because what we’re seeing from Germany today suggests that the trials after WW2 were far from enough. We need a different approach. Perhaps one more thorough and severe, too. Where are we at with it?

This nightmare of wildfires and drought has only one solution: We have to stop burning fossil fuels. Period. And it’s very do-able. But the Epstein Class won’t roll over voluntarily. Billionaires have something wrong with them at their core. Just remember that we outnumber them literally a million to one. They don’t stand a chance when we organize. And local actions can be huge for the planet. Boycotts. Tenacity. Sabotage… Let’s know our history and take heart. #climate

PSA - Naloxone (Narcan) is NOT a fix for overdoses. It buys you a little time to get someone to an emergency room. Writing this b/c I’ve heard people suggest otherwise at least twice recently. (Including Rolling Stone) Always call 911 after you’ve given someone Narcan. The victim of an overdose needs professional medical care immediately - even when they start to look better in response to this medication. #healthcare #PSA

Stunning. The first walk-out of a U.S. slaughterhouse in over 40 years. 99% of workers voted to go on strike from the JBS facility, so it looks like 3,800 people are throwing sand into the gears. While Trans Day of Visibility 🏳️⚧️ is technically 3/31, we would benefit from recognizing our trans siblings, neighbors, colleagues more often. And I will publicly be proud throughout the year as long as bigots are out here attacking people. (Believe there are at least 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills under consideration throughout the U.S. right now.) One thing to note: You can’t know someone is trans by looking at them. Also, “passing” as man or woman isn’t necessarily a goal for the trans person. #TDOV

A lot of people *still aren’t listening* to Black women, and wondering how we’re in this mess. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8bERacb/ Dr. Raquel Martin on the recent “Supreme” Court decision about conversion therapy ⬆️ In short, Martin points out that the only dissenting opinion was from Justice Brown Jackson, reminds us about the important history of mental health care and diagnosis, names conv. therapy for what it is (torture), and asks us to reconsider what licensing means #healthcare #USA
