Could be a child (and in this case probably is) but I've known people like this as grown-ups too. They just get really excited about the thing and want to have/do/whatever the thing and have absolutely no inhibition about using whatever method at their disposal to get it. The rationality of the choice and the consequences just don't factor in - or are at least something their brain tells them is "a problem for later"

Glasses are seen as a sign of intelligence because intelligence correlates with having a good education - and (especially historically) so does being able to afford glasses.

The Matrix. Not sure how that isn't mentioned yet! First movie was a masterpiece that became a classic, the rest were completely unnecessary. When my brother showed The Matrix to his kid, she asked "Is there another one?" and he said "No."

I loved the first Hollow Knight incredibly, and I really wanted to love the sequel Silksong just as much, but the problem, you see, is that I am Not Good. The first game had an OK difficulty and plenty of charms to help so I made it to the end, but all the first game DLC was so crazy hard I couldn't even. And that made me sad. I hoped Silksong would be a return to a more accessible place, but while it started reasonable it quickly got to a difficulty where I couldn't keep up, no matter...
