NZ's government shifting more money to private landlords while kicking the poor in the teeth (again). I sure hope we have alternatives worth believing in when we get to the election! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5u0SxrN5oA #nzpol

One NZ remains a very stupid choice of brand name.

I'm in an odd mood and have decided I want to learn a new physical skill. I'm thinking I might learn to TIG weld. It looks like a tricky branch of welding but also a very flexible one. HaveI ever welded before? No. Do I have significant need of welding? No.

I've inherited far more raspberry pi, arduino and associated electronics maker sensors etc than I'm ever going to use. Is there an obvious community space/project/group in Wellington to give such things?

@zl2tod@mastodon.online Agreed. One day the idea of a council owning some buses and trucks and employing some people might not be considered outlandish!

TIL Mac OS allows multiple processes to simultaneously bind to (listen on) the same local port! So much potential for confusion. #modelsurprise

I feel like, these days, it is worth emphasising that "the working class" is anyone who depends on wages or a salary. So many people don't identify with label, and yet it is them.

Beginning to look like electrification of the economy was a good idea afterall. How surprising.

It must be a weird time to be Jacinda Ardern. Watching the government of her own country take exactly the wrong lessons from crises she managed and lead through. The takeaway from COVID shouldn't have been "Act slowly and act late".

Supermarkets shouldn't use computer vision systems for security or customer tracking purposes. They should use them to spray water in the face of anyone who squeezes an avocado.
