Excuuuuuuuse me, Princess! -- Even the prices are buggy on Skyrim cross-posted from: lemmy.ml/post/53567424 Who is at fault here? Yes, Bethesda for its pricing, but shouldn’t Valve point that out for me (and the publisher)? Or is this a bug maybe? Usually buying such a multi package gives you (and me) a cheaper price than both individual products on their own, in addition to their individual special offering.

[Python, commandline] NamePlate: Rename files and directories by transforming their basename github.com/thingsiplay/nameplate I wrote some niche commandline Python script to rename filenames. I know there are many tools to do this already. It’s in the vein of something like Perl rename command. Maybe someone is interested, I don’t know. name --append "_v2" -- *.py name --glob --replace " (*" -- *.sfc Manual installation only: git clone https://github.com/thingsipl...

Khyretos/3dco-plus: 3Dco+ – An enhanced, AI-assisted fork of 3D Controller Overlay cross-posted from: lemmy.ml/post/52028618 {Downloads|Newest} Original project its based on is larfingshnew/3d-controller-overlay, which didn’t have an update in 2 years and does not support Steam Deck or the new Steam Controller 2026. I don't understand the logic. Why would Proton make Linux dependent on Windows binaries? It does not make Linux dependent, but enables to use them. I don't see any reason why Valve should demand devs to build Linux builds (plus Valve should not demand it, it should be a decision of the developers, Valve should not have that much power in my opinion). > if microsoft changed their apis wouldnt new games just not work on proton? The same would happen with changes in Linux. And arguably...

    > it’s one of those cases where if you have to ask, you should probably just use systemd. I just said the same, lol. This is my default responds to questions like these.

If you have to ask this, then its probably good idea to stick to systemd. I don't see any reason to change, other than to protest. In the process doing so you will probably encounter issues. People switch away from systemd for various reasons, but not for performance. In example they don't like who develops and controls systemd. And they don't like that it does more than just initializing the system, as bunch of other tasks are bundled into it. If all of that does not bother you, sta...

    > I will be locking this issue to avoid non-core developers spamming with the same walls of texts about the project name. Bruno is a very wise man.

I love Gruvbox. My favorite color scheme. If its not, its probably derived version of Gruvbox. My current one is different, simply because I wanted to have a different scheme after years of same.

Linus is not the only one involved in Linux. Most work and decisions are done without Linus' involvement at all. There are candidates (especially Greg) who are as important as Linus themselves and probably will take over the project. This is not a single user driven project.

Why do you have both `paru` AND `yay` installed at the same time? As someone who likes Rust, I maybe should have switched to paru too. But I just can't justify the change, because yay comes preinstalled and works just fine, and paru seems to not offer anything worthwhile the change.

I sometimes prefer Flatpak over AUR, because I do not trust everyone on the AUR to run scripts with root rights on my system. At least Flatpaks are a bit sandboxed (even if the sandbox is an illusion) and the programs don't install and run with root rights. Sometimes the Flatpak is from the original developer and the script in AUR is not. Or the AUR script is not updated well and often enough, unlike day one Flatpak updates. But Flatpaks do not integrate well in your system and applications...

Just wanted to share an alias I have in use and found it useful again. It’s a simple wrapper around xargs, which I always forget how to use properly, so I set up an alias for. All it does is operate on each line on stdout. The arguments are interpreted as the command to execute. The only thing to remember is using the {} as a placeholder for the input line. Look in the examples to understand how its used. # Pipe each line and execute a command. The "{}" will be replaced by the lin...
