I don't know how to get the eyes or ears of any big #Fediverse movers or shakers, but if someone out there who is good with code wants to jump on a golden opportunity, one is presenting itself. A couple of days ago, Tapas warned all their creators that they were going to be shutting down. If you're not familiar with it, Tapas is a webcomics platform, and basically the only decent-sized alternative to Webtoon. If we could throw together some sort of ActivityPub-backed Webcomics platfor...

I know this is weird, but it's also quintessentially Mastodon, because I need to tap the minds of a strange mix of chaos magicians, crypto-wiccans, math nerds, autists, artists, computer programmers, conlang enthusiasts, and general muckrakers. Does anybody know of a good way to generate your own "Magic Circles", sorta like the one below? I am working on my next tattoo design and I want to convey a bunch of information, densely packed in a way I can understand it and explain it t...

I think you could do a really funny "Lower Decks" style series about frustrated Junior Time Lords who are sent around to clean up The Doctor's messes. "Ok we... let's see... put the moon back into the correct orbit, re-ionized the atmosphere, and replaced the 17 ancient stone golem monsters that *he* destroyed with look-alike inert stone statues so that the natives - who didn't know they were ancient killer robots - don't notice that a bunch of their guardian deit...

I need a #pronoun check-in on something and could use the help of the general #trans Mastodon community to check in on this. My daughter has a friend who - it feels like - likes to fight with EVERYONE and EVERYTHING over almost any topic. This friend also identifies (like me) as agender. This friend has had a number of... odd... pronoun choices over the years, including wanting to be refereed to as "it" (not in a kinky way) for a long period of time. The most recent pronoun fucker...

I know it's a Cheap Pop, praising #Linux here on Mastodon, but I have to say... I think Microsoft may have made a massive "Video Game Crash of '83" level fuck up with Windows 11. If people don't like one of their decisions, their entire value, up until now, has been the *somewhat* valid argument of "what are you going to do, switch to Apple?" And to be clear, I am not shaming Mac users (a thing that I really wish they would also try not to do back, looking at yo...

Have any of you, good people of Mastodon (and BlueSky, I keep forgetting got the crossposting to work), made a video game that's available on the Nintendo Switch that I should try? I love indie games and will try almost anything that I get my hands on, provided that it's not a sportsball game (Golf Story does NOT count). If you've made something, worked on something, or have a personal connection to something, I'd love to hear about it. #VideoGames #IndieGame

A (very weird) WIZARDO RECOMMENDUS Been a few days since I've done one of these, in part because I'm in mourning for the soon-to-be-loss of my Switch 2 (my daughter is getting Splatoon Raiders in a week or so and has claimed right of Primae Switch Noctis) That had me exploring games I can play on my new SteamDeck (and yes, I still have a Switch Lite and a Switch OLED, I'm just a whiny baby), and I found a couple of fun ones if you're - like me - insane for Nonograms/Picross puz...

I love that on the regular internet, you can be like "I need to find out what part this is on my 2025 car" and all the results you get back are for car rentals, people trying to sell you a car, trying to buy your car, or AI slop videos explaining to you what a car is in the least intelligible way possible. But... in the #Fediverse you can be like "anybody know the correct wiring layout and voltages for a 1974 "Passion-o-Meter" novelty Love Tester from Hanlon Amusements...

I did a bunch of yardwork yesterday, pressure washing the outside of our house and cutting back a bunch of bushes. Today, I am back at work, and my right arm is incredibly sore... and worse than that, my right hand is completely numb. This is the nerve damage problem I have that also stops me from drawing... only today it's like 1000% worse

A couple of years ago, I got a really good Nintendo Switch game card case thing from AliExpress. I'd had a couple before that were... eh, they were ok, but this one felt fantastic, it was sturdy with strong magnets, the outside was pleasantly textured, the inner lining was silicone. It was great, so much so that I bought a couple more last year. Now, I find myself in need of additional pylons, er I mean game cases (I am doing the incredibly sane and rational thing of splitting my game...

Nintendo Switch Game Case Audition Update: Case 1 arrived, the black swirl case, as seen here - https://retro.pizza/@thevhswizard/116680936392492525 It is very... mid. The insert is nice, it's a firm silicone and not foam, it's glued in well and doesn't want to pull free - so far, so good. The case itself is hard and sturdy, but it doesn't feel as heavy which (to me) indicates that it's a little on the cheap side. Also, the edges of the case are v...

I have found a problem with the water in #Hytale that's causing me some consternation. I am building a gigantic mega-base thing, and was planning on having the fourth floor be completely submerged, like you're inside an aquarium. In order to fill those spaces with water, I was planning on using the tried-and-true Minecraft method of filling in a space with water - you dig down one layer, fill that first flat layer with a water "source block", and then all...

It really bugs me when I find out that they made modern ports/remasters/remakes of a thing, and didn't bother to make it in English. Been going down a big Dragon Quest rabbithole recently (thanks to getting my hands on the VII Reimagining) and that led me to discover that Japan got a game called "Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland Retro" for the Nintendo Switch, which is just a modern upgrade to the old GBC game. Specifically, it's a port of the...

I've been thinking about it, and I think that one of the reasons that the US is as fucked up as it is is because, at the end of the Civil War, we just let all those soldiers who had fought against us, against the ideals of the US and against the idea that black people were even people... we just let them all go home. And I know why - because the country would have collapsed without them, because it was a good chunk of our population and in order to survive, we needed them back at their...

My Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 arrives today, and I have mixed feelings. On one hand, as someone who lived through all the different "feature phone" eras, I have grown increasingly tired of the endless series of monolithic black slab phones. So, because of that, I am excited to try out the foldable gimmick thing, because I am a sucker for things like that. My last LG was the V60 with the second screen, and even that was basically two black slabs stuck together. I have been w...

I am realizing now, with their intricate character designs, how hard it must be for any characters from Jojo's Bizarre Adventures to get through a metal detector. Twenty solid minutes of taking off hoops, bangles, bracelets, necklaces, and weird piercings, but they're still setting off the detector each time because the forgot that they had like 12 knives worth of shrapnel in their bodies from various Stand battles
