You deserve an explanation, so please don't skip this 1-minute read. It's Tuesday, September 29, and our fundraiser won't last long. We know that—at the Foundation—we were donating to union-busting firms. If you've lost count of how many times the WMF has decided to screw around with its editors and employees, we don't blame you. We wanted you to forget our missteps after Framgate. But we never said that we wouldn't engage in union-busting or overr...

I've given Elementary and Pantheon a chance, and I'm sorry to say that I'm unfortunately not staying. It just is too buggy for my liking, from broken gestures to broken styling system-wide, among other things. I think I'm going to go back to Arch and Sway. Edit: I ended up choosing Labwc instead due to a lack of support for NVIDIA-open with Sway. #elementaryos #linux #archlinux #swaywm

Anyone know of any Linux desktops/distros that have said that they won't use AI? I know Elementary/Pantheon have said they won't. EDIT: the problem is made more complex by the fact that my laptop has an Nvidia card, and if I understand correctly, NetBSD (the anti-AI BSD) doesn't support Nvidia. I'm honestly keeping an eye on Redox OS. #linux #askfedi #noai #nollm #antiai #antillm

Does anyone know if #vernissage has a photo quota or account quota? I tried searching but couldn't find anything. #askfedi

Here's a hypothetical question for the programmers: If you could make your own programming language, how would the syntax work? What types would you add? Basically give me a pitch of your programming language. I've had this desire ever since I was learning programming to make my own, and I can never get myself to do it for one reason or another. But, I want to know what others think. #programming #askfedi #coding

Somebody brought this up amid the NVim saga: https://github.com/neovim/neovim/pull/12680 This reminded me of my own attempt to get the StreetComplete devs to do something similar which didn't really end well: https://github.com/streetcomplete/StreetMeasure/pull/22#issuecomment-5163263620 Gee, let's enforce that against the nonexistent code of conduct: https://github.com/streetcomplete/StreetComplete/issues/7022 Sigh. Welp, I guess I'm not using that anytime soon... #osm #openstr...
