Why does an oven need to know what it is cooking? Lately on yt I have been seeing a shitload of ads for a new oven with AI, it is marketed as knowing what you are cooking in it would make it better. I don’t see how. Also, on the product page on the manufacturers web page, the second sentence of the body reads: Navigating through the extensive settings menu is beautifully simple with the new touch screen user interface. I am sorry, a fucking settings menu on an oven is a primary sales...

Oh, if is far healthier to use snus or similar products than to smoke tobacco, for the people around you, weather or not that holds true for you as well, I have no idea.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again. An adblocker is part on my security suite on my computer. Ads can be hijacked to spread malware, and unless the site owner agrees to take both financial and legal liability for the possible dammage caused by their website I will never consider removing my adblocker. If they agreed to take on the responsibility, I still wouldn't remove my adblocker, but I would consider it.

I don't have one as dramatic as yours, but a month ot so ago, I was on the bus to the office, I had my Bose headphones on and was half asleep with closed eyes. The bus were stopped, and I suddenly noticed an acrid smell, like burning plastic. I opened my eyes and saw the interior or the bus filled with a haze of smoke. The doors were open and the last few other passengers were spontaneously evacuating. So I knew I had to leave and got out in 5 sec.

I live in a suburb to the north of Stockholm, I have experienced the GPS jamming first hand. There were a few days when my car's inbuilt GPS thought I was driving around in another suburb on the other side of the city. Does anyone know if GPS has the abillity to do signed packets? I mean, I'd rather the GPS fail completely, than giving me false data.

This is unrealistic, dead man switches has been a common part of trains and trams since the 1930s or so, it is therefore highly improbable that any tram operating would lack that critical piece of safety equipment. Thus it is ridiculous to assume that the tram would continue on after the driver has been killed. I refuse to participate further with this preposterous charade.

We never had these when I grew up, but we did have these: ![](https://lemmy.zip/pictrs/image/76d6b55e-d97c-4ba6-ad24-4921ebfc4627.avif) These are also a classic, there was always a rumor that one of the bigger kids managed to swing around the top, yet never any proof... There was also a variant that had a single attachment point at the top and could swing in all directions: ![](https://lemmy.zip/pictrs/image/8e9ac391-afe1-442f-8b42-429f99665144.avif)
