I’m going into the office today. But only for the morning as I have follow-up at the hospital this afternoon and it’s near the office. The appointment is the only reason I’m going into the office. I’ll probably get very little work done due to interruptions. It’s probably been 3 weeks since I was last there. Tomorrow I fly to Copenhagen for a conference in Malmö Wed-Fri. It’s going to be exhausting being around people.

We have a boat trip planned for tomorrow. Hope I don’t get seasick. Also hope my chest infection doesn’t make it a painful four hours. Antibiotics are taking a while to make a dent in it.

I was given a round of applause today. For doing my job. By my colleagues. It was not a comfortable moment. I understand they are happy with my work. And this does please me. But the attention of the entire room clapping for me (perhaps 30 people), was difficult to receive.

Today I start my first holiday without taking my laptop or being on call for work in over 30 years.

My room is over 30°C. This is absolutely normal for May in the UK … now.

Trump used to be a euphemism for farting. Now I think of it more as the unwelcome follow-through shit

Growing up in the 80s I was promised a world of crime fighting from Knight Rider, The A-Team, AirWolf and more. I feel very disappointed in what we have in reality. Except for those who triumph in harnessing renewable energy or work tirelessly to undo the harm humanity has wreaked on Earth. And by extension anyone who tries to be less damaging to the environment.

The reason I talk so much in my head has to be because I’m afraid of saying the wrong thing aloud, as has happened all too often (and I was told!). I’d rather avoid hurt feelings or such

I’m in a pub. Table next to me began discussing Starmer bringing back smoking in public indoor places. A quick :kagi: search revealed it is actually a plan to ban it in outdoor spaces due to the strain smoking still places upon the NHS. I can’t bring myself to correct them.

Ride home this evening was cold and against a strong wind. Less enjoyable. Cannot wait to be riding home in daylight.

Decided to name a new system at work “Front of House” as I felt the chosen name in the project discussions of “Master File” felt too colonial. Waiting to see if anyone takes issue with this.

I don’t usually do marches or protests (too many people and too much noise) but this is one of the important ones I think. 28th Feb in London. #protest #march #london #matm https://pulltheplug.uk/matm-sign-up/?utm_source=video&utm_audience=organic&utm_medium=youtube&utm_campaign=MATM&utm_content=siliconversations
