it’s inevitable that not everyone can know the same things and while it’s natural to be frustrated by another‘s ignorance the origin of the ignorance is most important. happenstance, or willfulness? the truly unforgivable crime is to reject the opportunity to know & understand, at others’ expense

people who refer to “ideas” and “ways of thinking that i disagree with” as “cognitive viruses” are not “qualified to speak in public on any subject” all this “mind virus” shit is a way of denying other people their agency to think you’re an asshole

it’s so fucked that nobody in charge of a media company has ANY imagination. somebody with too many visions, and an ability to see the value in their fellow art weirdos. who just wants to keep people paid and working on dreams!!! we need a trans Dino De Laurentiis

man i’m tired (once again, always) of spending all my useful energy on work i don’t care about in the least i wish i didn’t constantly complain about it; but that would require not feeling like a beat-up old shoe 9 out of 10 days

i would love for “SI” to replace “AI” in formal documentation. because to me, SI stands for “Suckin’ It” - We are afraid that the power of Suckin’ It may end humanity - With thorough integration of Suckin’ It into our daily workflows, productivity will skyrocket - corporate Suckin’ It training

the thing is, calculators and television and computers DID fundamentally change what most of us are capable of. sometimes for the better, often for the worse. complaints about new “technologies” can’t be dismissed by ignoring the very real change prior mass shifts have produced in humanity 🤷‍♀️

this is gonna sound. idk, “old” or obtuse or something. I don’t care! I have responded to the rise of LLMs by making myself type MORE of my code. Less copy-pasting, less standard autocomplete. You’ll never believe this: I can remember things better, and understand them more deeply!

what’s the best game that’s pretty much just classic rpg fights? no story, no wandering around. I want to do good fights until I fall asleep. no cards. yes turn-based menus. ten years ago i would have laughed at the very idea. and i know all the arguments against doing this. but is there one?

it has come to my attention that many people who compose the oil spill on the top of the economic ocean have been using the word “agentic,” not just for a brand of fake AI, but to describe a desirable person they are lying: they aim to diminish us by equating our real power with enticing lights

just so y’all know, I’m NOT a christian. when I repost stuff about christianity, it’s me addressing all the folks who call themselves christian without doing ANY of the good stuff it commands aka most everybody i grew up with that the faith produces SO MANY selfish pricks is for another day

it is a piercing torment, to be plagued with Ideas every hour of the day, and always set them aside in favor of survival

if there are no free lunches, it’s only because assholes have made sure of it. every meal used to be free, communally-made for most of history, because humans take care of each other. we can still do that, but some fools demand to feel superior

reminder that in many countries, you don’t have to “do” your taxes. the govt just sends you a bill or a check, because they already know what you owe / are owed. the united states also knows the balance. as a corporate state, they make us dance and squirm to charge us for “relief”

I didn’t want to be a programmer. I didn’t want to sit here every day doing corporate bullshit so I could break even every month as I keep drowning in debt. I accidentally got good at code, and accidentally got this job at a crucial moment of survival. I feel sick about still being at the edge of survival, many years later. I have to fix my life

struck anew at how a fundamental premise of ai boosterism is: you are literally not allowed to disagree. it’s either, “you need to try it again,“ or, “get over it, the squirrel is out of the tree.” Anyone who likes AI can NOT permit the idea that someone else has valid concerns. Feels uniquely hmm

I’m officially #LookingForWork! Happiest collaborating on creative code 😄 Either as a front-end #Webdev, where after 20 years I know how to do wild things with css and js. I’m also good at app logic, but loooove making stuff move and sing. I’m hoping I can find work in #GameDev, programming or design/scripting. I wrote most of the code for Spellcorked in #Playdate Season One, have deep #Lua experience, and am studying #UnrealEngine. Portfolio is at http://splendorr.com #fedihired

It /does not matter/ if you think AI tools are “useful.” It is /wrong to use them/. Full stop. Built on theft, lies, burning impossible cash, poisoning communities, barely paying human processors around the world. Literally damaging your brain and giving bosses a pretense to lay you off. Stop.

don’t you understand? having constant LLM interruptions while you’re typing, suggestions appearing that you cannot help but read and try to parse IS LITERALLY INTERRUPTING YOUR EVERY THOUGHT and shaping the outcome whether you “accept” it or not you cannot think clearly you are becoming less You
