Fun fact: although I've never been a Mozilla employee, I know what the CCCC channel is and all projects I have that interact with the outside world have a similar channel. https://cosocial.ca/@mhoye/116975530665832960

If I want a memory safe language that plays slightly above C speedwise, I just want to remind y'all that Java exists on many platforms and works fine.

The funniest contract I ever signed was 10 clauses of legalese and then "if you are based in Germany or Switzerland, the following contract applies instead (14 clauses)". A full contract in one clause of a contract.

Telefo...

TIL: Roman whole numbers are effectively decimal, Roman fractions are duodecimal. S stands for a half, but precisely 6/12. So XS is 10.5, or more accurately 10 6/12.

The actual news is “Sony is shutting down its physical media pressing business”, which all of PlayStation games are produced in. One of the sites already announce repurposing the machines for other uses, in particular micro optics.

Diesmal: polnische Rust-Konferenz. https://rustmeet.eu/en/coc/

TIL: "Please use formfeed characters (control-L) to divide the program into pages at logical places (but not within a function). It does not matter just how long the pages are, since they do not have to fit on a printed page. The formfeeds should appear alone on lines by themselves." (GNU Coding Standards)

Answer quickly: What is the engineering motto of facebook?

• View post

I got a little bit carried away during the weekend, but here is the solution: "Move fast and break things" is not the engineering motto of facebook anymore, despite it being thrown around a lot. Since 2014. There's even an interview on business insider with Zuckerberg about it. It was changed to "Move fast on stable infrastructure", not sure what happened in the last 12 years. He does say though the new one is not quite as catchy. https://web.archive...
