Another attempt at slice of life thoughts. Feedback, constructive and/or positive greatly appreciated. Last post for Blaugust; it was great to have a reason to make time to think, write, and post. Thanks organizers! As I sat on the dark beach listening to the sounds of the crashing waves and the very faint roar of thunder from the distant flashes of lightning, I wondered if will I think of this serene moment again? How many times will I remember this memory? Or will All those moments will be l...

As I migrate to this #GoToSocial instance I wanted to verify ✅ the link to this profile from my Mastodon profile but it's not currently supported. I found this issue that is discussing potential implementations. However, I wanted something now. Turns out you can just write raw HTML in you GoToSocial profile description and Mastodon will happily read the rel="me" from links. So I put in Migrating from <a href="https://fosstodon.org/@shom" rel="me">@sh...

The Einstein Ring photo by the Euclid Space telescope showing Gravitational Lensing is stunning! Not only is it wild that we're seeing a galaxy directly behind another one (literally seeing around a wall instead of through it), the shape is also common down here on Earth. It looks exactly like a Sundog rotated to the right by an "hour". #Astronomy #EinsteinRing #Sundog

Any #Selfhosted #Hoarder app users have this issue? I'm seeing that Hoarder is struggling to capture any Mastodon posts, some people have some great info in threads that they haven't posted on blogs and I want to save the references. Do you have any config tweaks you'd suggest? I already turned on CRAWLER_FULL_PAGE_ARCHIVE and CRAWLER_FULL_PAGE_ARCHIVE to true. I'm not getting full screenshots for any pages but getting page archives for "normal websites" but neither fo...

There are a lot of stressors in life and awful things happening in the world and I have a hard time enjoying the things that bring me joy. But these small joys are an important part of resiliency, I say that to loved ones all the time so I'm trying to practice it and sharing that joy. That's a long walk to say, checkout my delightful treat today and this wholesome hipster vibe! I had a delicious latte, shot a few frames of Wolfen 500 color film for the first time with my favorite pocket...

Thought-provoking, well-written, and values-affirming Sunday morning double header posts from @mia Being “in tech” in 2025 is depressing, and if I’m going to stick around, I need to remember why I’m here.@annie Talk about the thing itselfLet's build a better web for all humans and be welcoming! #OpenWeb #HumanIntelligence #KindnessIsRadical

I've been eye'ing the PineNote for years and just decided to check up on it. It looks ready for prime time now?? Does anyone have one and would like to share their experience? How does it feel like to write with? I would LOVE an ebook reader and note taker but do not want to be tied into proprietary walled gardens (Remarkable 2 / Paper Pro being the biggest temptress). Don't tempt me to buy one just so I can review it for all y'all! #Pine64 #PineNote #eReader #eInkTablet

@cheeaun this is really nice! Had I not scripted up a container based build and extract I would have totally used this. Perhaps an advanced option of pulling what's on dev.phanpy.social?

Wow Keychron sharing all the industrial design files for 83 of their products is very cool. They're releasing it as a source-available non-commercial license but explicitly encourages non-commercial community modding and accessory development. This is also very encouraging from a right to repair perspective! #MechanicalKeyboard #RightToRepair #SourceAvailable

  I barely made it under the wire for #MonochromeMarch (zine permission granted), which I've very much enjoyed. Glad I was able to shoot and develop in March, next year I'll be more prepared (I won't, but it's fun to pretend). 📷 #VoigtlanderBessaR3M + #Voigtlander40f1.4 🎞️ #IlfordHP5 🧪 #FX39II (1+9, 12 mins @ 20C) 🖥️ #SonyA7ii + #Darktable #FilmPhotography #BelieveInFilm #SanFrancisco #SFO #MonochromeMarch #ZineOK

The PineNote is here! I'm planning on making a hands on video to share my experience. Let me know if you have any questions you want me to try and answer. I don't plan to do technical tests but open to collaborating on it. First impression, feels like a quality and sturdy device. Feels good in the hand, the texture is a kinda soft grippy plastic. Pen felt good, the writing friction seems ok, I don't want to make any software qualifications until I update the device but still happy w...
