Been awhile since I’ve had this out, came across it when looking for something else and figured I’d play with it a bit. Sure is very cute but very very slow, as I remember it being.

oops. As I was laying out this board I went “wow I sure picked an overly-fine pitch part for this buck regulator, weird!” but continued with layout anyways. I did not in fact choose a part with that fine a pitch.

Hah, I hit print screen on a scope at the makerspace that I’m just learning to use (it’s older but 1GHz), then went “oh wait, I bet it’ll want a floppy for that”. But then something on it started whirring. Took me a second to realize the whirring was it doing what I’d asked, and this came out of a slot on the top!

I have returned to civilization after my annual week as a summer camp baker. It’ll take me a bit to catch up on everything!

I don't understand harassing other people for wearing a mask. It affects you not-at-all, I'm just walking down the street. The sky is currently orange and it looks foggy there's so much smoke, I've had asthma kill two friends and I am doing my best to not join them.

My new-to-me Braille display (which I will post more about soon, I am very excited about it) has maybe the most satisfying charging animation of any device I’ve used. It feels very pleasant and makes a nice noise. #braille

@mhoye@cosocial.ca my understanding is that mirrors.kernel.org (mirrors of a bunch of distros) is operated entirely separately from kernel.org itself (the kernel). But still, yeah :/

I visited 6 different local datacentres today and said hi to a bunch of equipment I’m responsible for but that I had never seen in person. It was so much fun.

Flew on an A220/CSeries for the first time on this trip, I am a fan! It’s a neat aircraft. They’re really impressively quiet too, especially for someone that’s previously spent >500,000mi of travel sitting next to JT8Ds on DC-9/MD80s.

Wow, 10-12 years ago Radius Rockets were going for like $50, this one's going to close at like $400. I was in for what I considered kind of a ridiculous amount, but not for _this_ much. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/389937460769

Wow, what a deal! Normally $719.96, but you’ll give it to me for only $809.96.

The plywood for Franklin’s new shell came in while I was travelling for work, so started working on cutting it all to size today! Got two replacement roof panels, a replacement rear panel, and four window frames/mounts all traced and cut out. I don’t often do much woodworking at the shop, it’s fun once in awhile. Next week my goal is to get the new front pieces cut and make a list of all the nuts/bolts/washers we need. #choochoo

One of the weirder sets of adapter cables I’ve needed, I think.

Anyone know offhand what type this connector is? I'm sure I've seen this type of thing somewhere before but can't figure out what it is. Update: found! https://hachyderm.io/@RealGene/116358761857241642

I love that they still add fake Quindar tones to the CAPCOM transmissions just because everyone’s used to it and they ended up being useful outside of their original use case.

Amateur radio license upgrade: success! Also, I did all the math with a slide rule as an extra challenge to myself and as good practice for that skill. I ended up getting 100% on the exam, which was unexpected but a nice reinforcement that I know some things about both radio and slide rule operations :)
