What safeguards do we need? None, defederate, switch instances if you disagree. Fediverse is open, there are no rules beyond what the instance owner puts in place. Would asking a LLM “please evaluate this person’s political opinions” give different results than “find evidence we can use to ban them” (as used in the cases I’ve seen)? Yes. That’s out of your control though, beyond switching instances. What are our transparency expectations? None, beyond what you trust of the admins...

I'd head over to db0's instance, they're more pro AI than the others. You'll get nothing but downvotes on .world. Personally I may not like it, I may be against it, but as someone who wishes to remain employed for the forseeable future, I have to be good at it.

I used to think this way, "hey it's not all men"! That was until my wife was roofied in a bar. Luckily I was there, just in the bathroom, and when I came out the coward bolted away, but it shattered all of my illusions about my own gender. She put her drink down for less than 5 seconds, at her table, with other friends there. They were distracted for a split second while he put something in her drink. God knows what would have happened if I wasn't there. Men, we all need to u...

I told him he could either have his racist and hateful views of people, people that include my friends and mentors, or he could have a relationship with his son. So it's been 9 years now, I'll let you know when I hear back on his answer.

Yes. I grew up that way. In the rural midwest, raised by a single hyper religious mother who probably has some sort of mental thing. She just completely turned herself off from pop culture. I think the latest movie she watched was made in the 60s, and I was born in the nineties. I grew up not knowing any movies, movies stars, music, or anything. It hurt me deeply because all of my friends would talk about new movies and their favorite actors, and I had to learn how to fake it. They would say d...

That makes sense to me then. My worry as a tiny instance owner, is that I’m worried I’ll get flooded with requests, that’s a lot of traffic I’d be signing up for. Larger DBs, more ingress, any thoughts on that?

K. You asked why your sound was bad, I gave an answer. Your opinions on if it should or shouldn't be that way are not relevant, this is the way it is. If you want good sound, you have to buy it. I can't change society or manufacturers for you, I am only a guy explaining how you can get good sound.

Your personal finances are your business. I am here saying why you can't hear anything. If the audio is bad, the invest in better audio, simple as that.

So, you haven't invested in your audio. You have a TV, great, but tv speakers are basically phone speakers. You don't need a big surround sound system, but you need something. Even the cheapest sound bars will likely solve this problem for you.

What does your audio system look like for your TV?

Pay for better audio people. TV companies make big shiny displays but out smartphone sized speakers in them. Gone are the days where you can get good audio from your TV. Even the cheapest sound bars will make a difference. It's not your ears. It's your sound equipment.
