Hmm, giving some consideration to switching over to #GoToSocial, and installing it bare metal on my VPS. At the moment this #Mastodon server runs via #Yunohost and the biggest pain in the ass is waiting weeks for them (Yunohost) to update the installers after a major Mastodon upgrade. GTS appears to be a single binary, a database file and a YAML config file, running via one systemd service. That's a lot less complex than Mastodon, with its multiple processes and connections. Not to mentio...

So I got a new 4K QD-OLED monitor yesterday. It's been challenging to get it to play nice with Linux. I'm currently using Gnome 50, and getting it to play nice with different scaling on my now 3 monitors (1080/1440/2160) has been a challenge. WoW at 4K looks REALLY crisp though 😄

Man, running this masto server can be more hassle than it's worth at times. Just spent the better part of 2hrs fixing the install, having to destroy it completely and restore from backup (thank god), because Yunohost crashed during the upgrade from 4.5.7 to 4.5.8. Guess I'll give it another go now...

And that's Mastodon upgraded now to 4.5.8. I think I'll run future upgrades from the console, rather than rely on the apparently unreliable and janky Yunohost web admin console...

RE: https://mastodon.social/@massivelyop/116479171377112268 10 YEARS? Whaaaat? I was lucky to be invited to the European premiere of the film in Dublin, and had a great time. Was the film perfect? Hell no. It tried to do too much and was a bit all over the place narratively, but it was very enjoyable nonetheless, at the very least to see elements of WoW on the (very) big screen I'll most likely pick up the steelbook, just for the sake of it.

Tonight, we stepped into Mythic for our first kills of the season in week 2, and not only did we kill the first boss in Voidspire, we also killed Chimaerus, the single boss in Dreamrift and as a result ended up in Hall of Fame! This is my first HoF kill too - so stoked! #WorldOfWarcraft #Midnight

So my personal standings after week 1 in Heroic: 247 iLevel: Averzian: 3rd EU (3rd Ally) Vorasius: 5th EU (2nd Ally) Salad Bar: 12th EU (8th Ally) Chimaerus: 3rd EU (3rd Ally) 256: Dragons: 17th EU (12th Ally) Vanguard: 3rd EU (1st Ally) Closest we got Alleria was 12%, so it'll go down on Weds! #WorldOfWarcraft

Yet to use it in a raid, for which I'm still relying on X11 and XFCE, but Wayland and proton seem to be playing nice together finally with #WorldOfWarcraft 😃 Other games, such as Steam and Heroic launcher all seem to be working grand too, so I don't ever see any need to go ba...

RE: https://mastodon.social/@macmade/115960297721484077 Images like this are why I absolutely ADORE #Astronomy and have done my entire life. Damn shame I had to wait this long to get into it more fully, but it's an expensive hobby and I'm finally in a place financially where I'm able to indulge myself with things like the Seestar S30 Pro. Also in no small part due to the tech getting to the point now where imagery like this is within reach of amateur astronomers like m...
